freaks on the streets

I drove down Wadsworth Blvd. to I-70 and then to the Colorado Mills Mall today. At Wadsworth near I-70 and on the street near the mall there were a bunch of reprobates with "bring the troops home" and "stop the war" signs. What a bunch of losers. When I was at the mall, I started to walk down there to give them a piece of my mind, but I didn't. I figured, "why bother"? I certainly wouldn't change their minds (because idiots have very low intelligence levels) and it would only get me angry. Those losers should read this piece in Reason on-line about how the war in Iraq is being won, but I don't know if those losers with the signs can even read.

Write your senators: Reject the Law of the Sea Treaty!

This turkey of a treaty is being brought back to the floor of the senate.  It would give away U.S. sovereignty on key issues related to maritime matters and the mining of seafloor materials.  IT HAS TO BE STOPPED!!!  Check out relevant materials here and write your senators.  Tell them to reject the Law of the Sea treaty!!!

Rudy! How could you???

I have been a big-time Rudy Giuliani supporter, but I might have to rethink that position. He has said he is supporting the Red Sox in the World Series! What the heck!!!! He is supposed to be a big Yankees fan. As a Yankees fan myself, I can say that any real Yankees fan would rather drink cyanide than root for the Red Sox. What is he thinking? This is as feckless as Hillary Clinton saying she has "always been Yankees fan". Argh! Matt Lewis has the correct take on it here.

Denver folks: we're losing KNUS2

I saw on the KNUS web page that they're doing away with the 1650 AM KNUS2 station.  I always thought it was probably just a matter of time before this happened.  They don't list there who they're doing away with.  They do mention that two of the three hours of Dennis Miller's show will now be live which is good.  That will be 9 to 11 so they're either chopping an hour off of Laura Ingraham and Dennis Prager or doing away with them entirely.  Frankly I have had it with Laura Ingraham.  She spends WAY too much time on illegal immigration.  I mean, yes it is an important issue, but it can be over emphasized.  She spends most of the rest of her time with, in my opinion, overly prissy rants against the culture (I mean who cares if Bill O'Reilly's B-roll imagery shows girls in bikinis when he's talking about... OH MY GOD... girls in bikinis).  I also see they're bringing the loathsome Michael Savage back to 710 AM.  This guy gives conservative talk radio a bad name.  He is a hate monger and that we don't need.  They just better not be putting Savage in Hugh Hewitt's time slot or I'll be REALLY pissed.

Libertarians vs. Communitarians

I read an interesting piece by Michael Kinsley that discusses all the support that Ron Paul has been getting and casts movements within the Republican and Democrat party not in terms of Conservative vs. Liberal but Libertarian vs. Communitarian.  Kinsley (being Kinsley) has some ridiculous statements in his piece like "Republicans are more tolerant of ... torture in the war on terror".  However, if you can get past that stuff, it is an interesting piece and I am definitely rooting for the Libertarians (though not so much in the foreign policy arena where they are definitely out to lunch).

the real defining atrocity of the Iraq war

Mark Steyn was on Bill Bennett's radio show this morning.  He mentioned that there was a New York Times story with a throwaway aside about how "Abu Ghraib was the defining atrocity of the war in Iraq".  Excuse me?!?  This just shows how much the writers at the NY Times hate the United States.  Any sane person would look at something like Zarqawi's beheading of Nicholas Berg or Al Qaeda's blowing up of the Golden Mosque as being bigger atrocities.  Let's see.  I'm holding out my two hands.  In one is some over enthusiastic Army reservists making the jihadists wear panties on their heads.  In the other is Zarqawi hacking off Nick Berg's head.  Gee... I'd have to say that the latter is a bit worse, don't you think?

good news for Mars exploration!

This space.com article notes that the Mars Exploration Rover mission has been extended a fifth time.  Good news!  The rovers have some incremental problems, but by and large are still healthy and returning terrific new results.  Opportunity is within the inner rim of Victoria crater examining the stratigraphy there.  Spirit has been examining the southern portion of the Home Plate feature.  The exploration continues...

Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize: ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

OK, the Nobel Prize committee was already guilty for many years now of a complete outrage by awarding the Peace Prize to Yasser Arafat, someone who never renounced terrorism.  However, now they have gone from the sublime to the truly ridiculous.  Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize... ARE YOU KIDDING ME????  So I guess all one needs to win the Peace Prize these days is to take part in a shameless self-promotion tour giving a slide show that qualifies, at best, as pseudo-science.  I think I'm going to do the same, saying that we can solve the world's problems by using the secret UFO technology hidden at Area 51.  Hey! Why not?  Maybe I can win the Peace Prize.  I could use that award money.

my head is going to explode!

It is getting so that I can't listen to conservative talk radio any more.  There are so many nimrods calling in and saying "Rudy Giuliani isn't a real Republican" or "hey! what about Mike Huckabee".  Or you have people like Hugh Hewitt shilling for Mitt Romney no matter what stupid thing Romney says (like Romney saying last night he'd have to consult with lawyers before taking out an Iranian nuclear bomb.  It is very clear to me that Rudy Giuliani is THE MAN.  He is the best one to take on (as Mark Levin likes to call her) Hillary Rotten Clinton, he is the best one to take on the Islamofascists.  He is a street fighter and he has the best chance of getting the job done.  Period!

and the award for most ostrich-like country in Europe goes to... Holland!

I actually read this column by Anne Applebaum yesterday, but heard her interviewed today on Bill Bennett's radio show.  The gist of it is that the Netherlands is wavering on providing protection for Ayann Hirsi Ali who has spoken out about the brutal way some Moslems treat their women.  Apparently there are many people in Holland who just want to pretend the problem doesn't exist.  When will these wimpy socialist types realize that evil has to be confronted?  If it is ignored, it just grows stronger.

return of the document burglar

I just heard the news that Sandy Berger (aka, Sandy Burglar) is now an official advisor to Hillary Clinton's campaign.  No one can tell me that this isn't some kind of quid pro quo payback to Berger for his going into the National Archives and stealing documents and "losing" some of them.  He went in there to cleanse the Clinton record on terrorism and he got away with it.  Some Justice Department we have.  If it was a Republican who had done what Berger had done, that Republican would now be bunkmates with some bruiser named Bruno in the Federal prison system.  Instead for Berger he gets to be a high paid advisor to Hillary.  Come to think of it, if he has to listen to her talk all the time that could be worse punishment...

Bravo George Will!

I'm watching the ABC "This Week" program and its roundtable and George Will just said that the social conservatives should "grow up" and then he went on to say how conceited the social conservative leadership is. I agree 100%. They need to realize the reality that if they don't support that the party nominee, even if it is Rudy Giuliani (who they dislike), that Mrs. Clinton will win. Realizing that reality and supporting Giuliani would be a sign of true maturity. Obviously, folks such as James Dobson and Richard Land aren't displaying that maturity.

James Dobson: pompous, sanctimonious, windbag

I'm listening to James Dobson being interviewed on the Sean Hannity show.  What a moron.  If he goes through with supporting a third party candidate over Rudy Giuliani he will be handing the election to Hillary Clinton on a silver platter.  This guy is so, so holy that he can't support anyone who doesn't live up to his guidelines.  I know some of the people I work with really mock these evangelicals, but I've been willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.  However if their oh-so-holy attitude leads to this country getting turned into a socialist police state by Hillary then I've got to say that they're out of their minds.  What kind of justices does he think Hillary will nominate? How strongly will Hillary wage the war against the Islamofascists?  If the Republican party doesn't get behind a strong leader who will have the best chance of beating Hillary- namely Rudy- then the party will deserve to lose and this country will pay the price.

Hooray for Pres. Bush and his veto of SCHIP

Hooray for President Bush! Good for him to veto the odious SCHIP bill which is just a big foot in the door for socialized medicine. It is disgusting the way the Democrats try to get this bill passed with all their rhetoric about its being for "the children". It is sad that there are a bunch of linguini-spined Republicans who won't stand up against this socialized medicine bill because they are afraid of being labeled as being "against the children". The voters aren't stupid (well... some of them are, but I think most aren't), if these guys would just take a stand and explain how obscene this bill is in trying to expand the role of government they would do just fine but they are too timid to do so.

the Left's assault on free speech

It has really been disturbing to watch how the Left has been assaulting Rush Limbaugh- completely distorting what he said.  Apparently the truth means not a whit to these people.  They really follow what Goebbles said about telling the big lie.  I live in the 2nd District of Colorado with liberal congressman Mark Udall and apparently he sponsored the House legislation condemning Rush.  I wrote his office an e-mail, but I suppose I might just as well have stuck my head out the window and yelled for all the notice that will be taken of it.  This guy Udall wants to be Senator and it looks like the GOP will have a candidate who is too far to the right so it looks like Udall will have a cake walk.  If we don't stop these leftist fascists now we will be living in a the Soviet Republic of America within 10 years.
